Day to Evening smokey eye

Around Christmas time, I bought myself the Too Faced Chocolate bar pallet and still haven't tried every shade yet because I love this look so much!
It's my go-to warm smokey eye.

First I use Salted Caramel as a crease/transitioning shade! (The PERFECT colour for this!)

Then I apply Semi Sweet all over my lid, really blending it with Salted Caramel for a softer look.

For some added sparkle, I dabbed Marzipan just in the middle of my lid with my finger. The shadows themselves are so creamy and pigmented, I just needed a small amount on my finger

And finally, I used Champaign Truffle as a brow bone and inner corner highlight. I love that this shade has some shimmer to it but it's by no means sparkly or glittery!

And that's it! Just 4 easy steps!

I like to transition this look to night with a dramatic wing-tip eyeliner! I use the Kat Von D Tattoo liquid liner, and Tarte Amazonian Clay Gifted mascara!

The Beloved Beauty Blender

Can we take a little time out of day to talk about the Beauty Blender?
Who invented this little sponge of dreams?
How did they know I need it in my life so badly?
How does it make my face look airbrushed?
How did I even apply my makeup before this little miracle came into my life?

I started watching makeup and beauty videos on Youtube about 6 months ago and almost every person was using this little pink sponge to apply their makeup.
Interest and curiosity got the better of me and I decided to look up what they were using.
My legitimate first thoughts were, “Seriously?! Almost $30 for a stupid little sponge?!” So I never bought it
A few months later, I watched a video on youtube by CoffeeBreakwithDani called “Makeup 101: Beauty Blender," and I decided, “okay, screw it! I need this!”
So the next time I went into Sephora I picked one up.
I swear to god, as I picked it up off of the shelf, an angel choir started to sing and a beam of light fell from heaven onto the sponge.

Every since then, I believe my life has gotten a little bit better. (Or at least my makeup routine)

However, I sadly must say that my puppy got ahold of my beloved Beauty Blender and ripped it to pieces. I still haven’t been able to make a trip to Sephora, and am still mourning the loss of my Beauty Blender…

Make Up Must Haves

Here are just a few of my favourite go-to miscellaneous beauty products for the month of January. On a daily basis, these are the products I find I gravitate to the most.  Let me know what your go-to everyday products are!

Eye pallets:
Urban Decay - Naked Basics (1&2)
Too Faced - Chocolate Bar

I am seriously obsessed with the Naked Basics pallets right now! With hooded eyes, I try to stay away from shimmers and glitters (I'll talk more about that in another post) and these pallets have the most beautiful medium-tone crease shade and some incredible highlight shades! The formula is creamy and pigmented! Not to mention, perfect size for travel! The Chocolate Bar pallet by Too Faced has become kind of a cult favourite on the internet right now!
Basically every beauty blogger I have seen on Youtube has at least one tutorial using the original Chocolate Bar or semi-sweet pallets. I LOVE the shade options in this pallet! They are so pigmented and did I mention they smell like chocolate?!
The only thing I will say about it is, if you have incredibly sensitive eyes like I do, if I leave it on too long, or forget to apply an eyeshadow primer, it tends to irritate my eyes. (albeit it was only once and it was 7 hours into wearing it on my eyes)

Primer:
Smashbox - Photo Ready color correcting primer

Can I say anything bad about this primer? NO! This primer has everything you can ask for in a primer for dry, red skin. I apply the smallest amount to my nose and cheeks and am left with a perfect, pore less complexion!

Mascara:
Maybelline Great Lash

For me personally, all mascara is basically the same but different spoolies. But this formula is really nice! I heard quite a bit of good reviews on this mascara so I figured I would give it a go and, so far, am very pleased with it!

Blush/Bronze/Highlight combo:
Sephora Combo

This was my very first trio so I feel like I should say something about it! I just learned about contouring a few months ago (I know I know, get with the times eh?!) so I picked up the Sephora store brand combo in the second lightest shade.
Now, while the combo looks good with my skin tone, the powder is nice and has a good finish, the bronzer shade is a little too warm to contour with. I find warm tone bronzers make for a muddy look if you use it for contouring. (as a healthy glow around the face, perfect!)
But overall, a great first product!

Eyeshadow Primer:
Urban Decay Primer Potion

To be quite honest, I didn't even know there was such a thing as primer for your eyelids until Sephora moved into the mall near me. I honestly don't know how I ever did my eye makeup before this little bottle of magic came into my life! It somehow makes the colour of my eyeshadow looks so much more pigmented!
